The Finnish-Canadian Business Club (FCBC) organized a Christmas luncheon on 12.12.2011 at Helsingin Pörssiklubi

The keynote speaker of the luncheon was Mr. Ingmar Haga, Vice-President, Europe, Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited. Mr. Haga told about Agnico-Eagle’s gold mining activities in Finland.

Agnico-Eagle Finland’s mine in Suurikuusikko, Kittilä is European biggest gold mine. Suurikuusikko mine opened year 2008.

The Annual General Meeting of the Finnish-Canadian Business Club was held on Monday 28th March, 2011 in WTC Helsinki

Guest speaker of the AGM was Mr. Garry Parker, Chairman, the British and Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce in Finland.
The topic of the speech was: "Good Business in the Commonwealth: what should be done in Finland to prepare for the future".

The Finnish-Canadian Business Club (FCBC) organized a member meeting on 21.2.2011

Members of the FCBC were invited for a luncheon hosted by Metso Corporation. Host of the visit was Mr. Jukka Seppälä, Vice President, Stakeholder Relations and Trade Policy, Metso Corporation who told about Metso Corporation’s activities in Canada.

Metso (www.metso.com) is a global supplier of sustainable technology and services for mining, construction, power generation, automation, recycling and the pulp and paper industries. Metso has about 27,000 employees in more than 50 countries. Due to the strong role of forest, mining and energy industries in Canada also Metso has developed in the country extensive operations.

The Finnish-Canadian Business Club a Christmas luncheon on Wednesday 8.12.2010.

The guest speaker of the event was Mr. Jan Hinds, CMH Nordic. Mr. Hind told about Heli-Skiing in Canada.

The barbecue event was organized in cooperation with the Canadian Embassy, Finnish-Canadian Society and the Finnish-Canadian Business Club

Member meeting 24.5.2010: Rolls Royce

The Finnish-Canadian Business Club (FCBC) organized a member meeting on 24.5.2010 at WTC Helsinki.

Guest speaker of the luncheon was Mr. Anders Backlund, Area manager, Finland & Baltics, Rolls-Royce Oy Ab. Mr. Backlund gave an overview of Roll Royce’s activities in Finland and told about RR’s marine-division’s operations in Canada.

In Finland Rolls-Royce have factories in Rauma and Kokkola focusing on designing, marketing and manufacturing of marine equipment. In addition, there is a sales office in Helsinki. The production selection includes azimuth thrusters, winch systems and water jets for a large variety of vessel types. Rolls-Royce employs 420 people in Finland.
