ACTIVITIES

The activity year was the 29th year in the history of the Finnish-Japanese Chamber of Commerce.

The Annual Meeting
18.6.2010 the Annual Meeting was held. Items according to the rules of the Chamber of Commerce were treated.
The guest speakers at the luncheon after the Annual Meeting were
Mr. Yudai Hata, Managing Director, CEO, Toyota Tsusho Nordic Oy
and Mr. Mikko Huopalainen, COO, Toyota Tsusho Nordic Oy.
The program of the event was:
12.00 Welcome by Mr. Petteri Kostermaa, Chairman
12.05 Toyota Tsusho Nordic Oy, Mr. Yudai Hata
12.15 Recall and Technology, Mr. Mikko Huopalainen
There were 13 participants in the Annual Meeting.

Other activities
25.2. was the publishing event of the Nichi-Fin shoubai kyouryoku: 90 vuotta suomalais-Japanilaista yhteistyötä. The publishing event was organized at the World Trade Center Helsinki, Marski Hall, Helsinki.
The Finnish-Japanese Chamber of Commerce in Finland in co-operation with the Finnish Chamber of Commerce in Japan published a "Japan Book" to commemorate the 90 years' anniversary of diplomatic and commercial relations between our countries. The book emphasizes the fact that Japan still is and will remain as one of the most important partners for Finland in trading, technological and industrial exchange as well as in the fields of culture, science and education.
Some 30 companies and other organizations were interviewed for the Finnish language book, which also contains some practical business and culture cases. The book was printed in 2000 copies. The distribution is free of charge. The Japan Book was distributed to the members of the parliament of Finland, to the ministries, other government organizations, industrial and labour organizations, chambers of commerce, technology centers, universities, libraries and the like.
The book was edited by Miikka Lehtonen and Ilpo Kaislaniemi.
There were 24 participants in the publishing event.

19.3. Dr. Dan Steinbock was the guest speaker of the luncheon meeting arranged together with other Trade Associations in Asian countries. The topic of the speech was Global growth, G-7, and Emerging Asia: Prospects After Global Crisis.
The event was at Restaurant Savoy, Eteläesplanadi 14, Helsinki.
There were some 30 participants in the luncheon meeting.

26.8. H.E. Mr. Jari Gustafsson, Ambassador of Finland to Japan, was the guest speaker.
The topic of the speech was “Economic and business outlook in Japan.”
There were 28 participants in the meeting.

9.9. was the Japan Golf Day in Master Golf, Espoo. Type of the play was 18 holes stableford, full handicaps, max hcp 36, and special prize competitions were closest to
pin and longest drive.
Winner was Mr. Yudai Hata, longest drive Ms. Auli Ropo, 161 m, and closest to pin Ms. Auli Ropo, 1,44 m.
Prize giving ceremony and buffet dinner were after the golf tournament at the Embassy of Japan. H.E. Mr. Hiroshi Maruyama was the host of the evening.
There were 37 participants in the Japan Golf Tournament.

4.11. Finnish-Japanese Chamber of Commerce organized a luncheon meeting at the World Trade Center Helsinki, Marski Hall. The guest speaker was Mr. Marcus Mangs, sales Director, export, Fiskars Home. His topic was: “Fiskars Home – Operational Model Japan”.
There were 16 participants in the luncheon meeting.

30.11. Finnish-Japanese Chamber of Commerce organized a luncheon meeting at the World Trade Center Helsinki, Marski Hall. The guest speaker was Mr. Seppo Kimanen. He spoke about his experiences of Japan’s culture and business life.

This event was also a farewell luncheon for the Chairman, Mr. Petteri Kostermaa.
He started as Sales Director, Singapore and South East Asia, Finnair Oyj, site in Singapore, early December 2010.
There were 15 participants in the luncheon meeting.

Mr. Jukka Suomela, Honorary Chairman, acted as deputy for the Chairman from December 2010 until the next Annual Meeting.

As auditors elected by the Annual General Meeting were Mr. Timo Jalamo, Nordea Oyj and Mr. Juha Vuopio, Nordea Oyj. Vice Auditors were Mr. Antti Kurki,
Oy Metsä-Botnia Ab and Ms. Marja-Liisa Peltola, the Central Chamber of Commerce of Finland.

SECRETARY

Ms. Sirpa Rissa-Anttilainen, Managing Director, World Trade Center Helsinki, has been Secretary of the Finnish-Japanese Chamber of Commerce.

MEMBERS

By the end of the activity year there were 57 corporate members and 25 private members and four honorary members.

FINANCE

The activities of the Chamber of Commerce were financed through membership fees.
In 2010 the total of membership fees was 6.423,00 euros. corporate membership fee was 120,- euros and private membership fee was 20,- euros.

Deficit of the activity year was 6.361,73 euros. Own capital at the end of the activity year was 24.624,78 euros.
Profit and loss statement is enclosed.
